Misadventure on Elgin Routes as Horse Sinks in Ditch

Near Elgin last Wednesday evening, Currier Lasley’s horse fell into a muddy ditch about four miles from town. He walked a quarter mile to wet hours to assist, then left the horse and rode on to town on Mecoge Haley of Prague. Ada Herrer of route 1 visited Lawton, Mrs. A W Dockem on route 1 sick but improving. A girl was born Sunday morning at a local home. The stork visited Lee Nix on route 3 Thursday, yielding a baby boy. J H Abcott is taking the place on the binder due to eye injury.

Confederates Pensions Granted in Oklahoma

County Judge Ray submitted 18 pension applications under the new Oklahoma law for ex Confederates. Applicants must swear they own no property over one dollar, have willed away possessions to the amount of one thousand dollars, and hold no office paying more than 180 dollars per year.
