A Fletcher squad visited the local court Saturday but the home team dominated to win 81 to 16. Spectators praised fair play and teamwork, noting Cecil Cantley from Fletcher officiated well. Local players list includes H. Hagle, R. C. Choens, J. H. Willhite, R. M. Young, and A. P. Harney.

No Rebates Yet In Oklahoma Railroad Refund Case

Federal Judge Cotteral in Guthrie last Friday denied the Attorney General West motion to dismiss railroad rebate petitions. He said the railroads hold about $6,000,000 in citizens money as rebates and will not be paying them soon.

County Officials Attend Good Roads Meeting at Lawton

O H Putney trustee John M Lodes Seaton of Chandor township M Wolcott treasurer and Vic Sparlin trustee Richards township attended the county Good Roads meeting at Lawton Friday. The meeting was profitable and the county commissioners designate Wednesday Feb 18 as a Good Roads Hall urging turnout to work the roads.

New President Ousted at Cameron Rural School

Last Saturday the state board of agriculture ousted Prof. E. M. Trost who had served as president of the Cameron rural school at Lawton for about four months. Prof. Robert Short was selected to fill the vacancy.

Death of Mr Dunn near Elgin prompts obituary note

Mr Dunn who lived three miles west of Elgin died today. The remains will be taken to Maywood, Missouri for interment. More particulars will be reported next week.

Horse Thief And Deserter Report From Fort Sill

A deserter and horse thief tale unfolds as Chester Crain helps identify the man. The suspect tried to buy Crain’s horse in Elgin but failed to cash a check. Sheriff notified, Marshall Crawford arrested the deserter and delivered him to Ft. Sill guard house. A $50 reward applies for deserter return after 24 hours. no likely payout. The horse, unbranded, remained with local officers and was later claimed by Fort personnel.

Robbery at Drug Store Yields Rings and Cash

Thief taps the drug store Thursday night entry and steals $50 in cash two gold rings four small checks and the balance. The thief used a skeleton key and left the safe unlocked. Mr. Hagle can identify the rings and knows check details, aiding suspect identification.

First Sowing Reported Near Town

On Saturday T. O. Miller finished sowing 16 acres of oats for D. BE. McAnaw just west of town. It is the first oat sowing reported this year and the ground is well filled with moisture. Early sowing may prove advantageous.

A special meeting at a Methodist church closed Sunday night under Rev. E. H. Shipman and T. A. Wilson of Oklahoma City. Shipman was sent here as a substitute after a plan to hold a meeting at Glencoe, Oklahoma could not proceed. The service lasted about an hour with ungloved activities described as unusual.
