A poem-like admonition extols the value and perils of knowing everyone in a community through constant observation and engagement. It urges relentless work and openness to all, warning that such intrusion can erode selfhood while rewarding intimate knowledge of people from rulers to common citizens.
Wm Hasenbeck, aged 65 years 1 month 26 days, died at his home three miles north west of Elgin after a ten day illness from paralysis. Funeral services were held at his home conducted by Rev C A Hickman and burial followed in Elgin cemetery. Born March 23 1851 in Germany he emigrated to the US in 1879, lived in Minnesota then Oklahoma arriving at Elgin in 1902. He married Mary Kauning in 1877 and leaves eight children Me A Fetide Mrs Satin Wielzke Miss Qila Miss Dorothy and Men io living nant Bigin Me Shine nda nf Altar Ohio and Ci of Lawton Oklahoma along with two nephews in Germany. The funeral was delayed as W C Hasenbeck went to California briefly. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran church since age 15 and worked as a weaver in Germany. He also served three years in the German army.

Mr Contate tended poultry show in Ola City. J M McKinney of star route travelled to Lawton on business. B A Murray moved from Hoffer farm near Hyn to a farm beyond Fletcher. Patten of Chickasha visited daughter Mrs J M Hinds on route 3. Orville Keeler family new patrons on route 3 with N A Johnson’s Miller farm. Wieshel Morrow left L C Chamberlia’s route 2 home for Bio war dass Townley route 2 returned from Sayre.
Snow and sleet covered the ground last week as families from Lawton and nearby towns visited relatives in Spring. Albert Jacobt J and Miss Hendricks wed Jan 6 at Sterling Catholic church before a two week Texas trip. Rev Lamar preached a free sermon Friday. Rev Hawkins becomes new church pastor and will speak every third Sunday. Bondar school registered 45 pupils as Sunday attendance hopes rise. Frank Kints discussed the lek iat. older Mr. Bentley attended quarterly conference at Fletcher.
