Elgin high school defeats Apache 17 to 14 in a hard fought game. Referees were Levite and P R Bennett. Scorers include Hag le two field goals Price two field goals and three free throws, Willhire three field goals.
A. Rohife received a letter from his brother's daughter in Farden Germany with war news. The brother has three sons in the war. One son is a harness maker whose skill lies in the anatomy and care of a horse's foot.
E Stone reports letters from Wapanucka about Ivan Stone's accident at the gin. His right hand was drawn into saws when the machine started while he cleaned the saws, he wore leather mitts and was pulled in. He is up under strain, not fainting, and is recovering by sitting up, tying shoes, and practicing writing with one hand.
Information from Sterling states Mrs. Joe L Rutherford died recently at their Arkansas home. The couple lived in Sterling for a time and briefly in Elgin where her husband worked on the railroad section.
On July J. D. Lamb Lon Crain of Lake township J. R. Whitman Jerry Klos of Risharda township and J. W. Head of Chandler were summoned to serve on the Lawton petit jury beginning Monday.
