Barber Shop Sold in Elgin Transfer

G B Stackhouse sold his barber shop to A P Harney, who becomes the new barber artist in Elgin. Harney is son of T F Harney residing east of Elgin and has barber experience in Sterling and Fletcher before moving from Blain. Stackhouse left Monday to oversee a farm near Rushovings and will haul lumber from Unickashe for a new use.

Program At Schoolhouse Orders Deputies Named

The district plans a Christi program in the origin building if no fire occurs and only stove lights, no smoking, and no standing on furniture. Marshall Crawford appoints J. E. Weber, G. B. Stackhouse, W. A. Strother, G. W. Walker, T. Ryan, R. C. Choens, J. H. Abbott and Lon Morton to enforce the rules and maintain order.

Deputy Sheriff Pike Pierce resigns after three years under Sheriff Nix. Finis Berry is appointed to replace him. Pierce plans to return to his farm and pursue the sheriff’s race in the primaries next year with bootlegger and gambler testimony lingering in the public record.

Barn erection to begin on T P Fenton’s farm

T P Fenton will this week begin the erection of a good sized barn on his farm just west of town. When a silo is added he will be ready to farm in earnest.

Change Of Doctors In Elgin And Fletcher

Reports indicate new medical assignments in Elgin and Fletcher starting January 1. Dr Joyce will locate in Cement. Dr Gamble will move from Elgin. Dr Eddie man of Gold Dust Tennessee will settle in Elgin. The note praises Dr Gamble and characterizes Dr Eddie man as highly recommended with hospital and funeral practice experience.

Community Notes From The District

The enrollment of Ovie Coward brings the pupil total to thirty. Local youth staged a musical program Sunday evening at Mr. Col. Road work occupied several days last week in the district. Schoeneboom moved his property from Barrett farm to the Kirklen farm for the coming year. Chas Campbell shipped 100 head of young cattle from Texas for feeding. Mrs Chas Coffin and children visited L C Coffins while Mrs Chas Compton and Mrs Geo Coffin visited Frank Hannon and wife in Chickasha. Henry Hasenbeck drove to Lawton. The roads are described as fierce.

Comanche County School Notes Holiday Week Changes

No school for Xmas week with a one week vacation. The Comanche County teachers association meets Friday and Saturday of no week so no school Friday. The Literary will convene Thursday afternoon instead of Friday with an elaborate program. Basketball between Gold Black Blue White was fast though rough at times. Blue and White lost after casual disqualifications. Elgin School advocates clean athletics. Enrollment declined slightly. overall attendance last month averaged 80 percent with 83 percent of boys and 77 percent of girls. Primary room 71/51, Intermediate 90/91, Advanced 90/89 with 15 neither absent nor tardy. gains were 10 boys and 8 girls.

Married Folks Barred From Xmas Sunday Treats

A general meeting voted unanimously that no Sunday school treat should be given to any married person at the Xmas program. Special emphasis was placed on ensuring all children of parents who donate to the expense fund receive a treat.
