Death Claims Otto Shacklett in Elgin Community

Otto Shacklett, 19, dies of pneumonia at his mother Addie Shackletts home on South A Street in Elgin. He recently worked for the Times at Bideurado and fell ill after reporting to work Thursday morning. Funeral arrangements hinge on sister Maggie Shacklett arriving from Arkansas.

Able Entertainer Arthur Bristow Delights School Audiences

Arthur Bristow, a blind gen ius, gave a vivid discourse at the school auditorium on Saturday night. The talk drew a large, appreciative crowd with admission set at 15 cents for adults. He shared wit, humor, personal experiences as a blind man, answered questions, performed flute and piano pieces, and read a self penned poem. The engagement lasted about two hours as several in the audience urged further selections.

Local poultry show yields several prizes for Lawton exhibitors

At the Lawton poultry show last week, local exhibitors captured several honors amid fierce competition from Oklahoma City, Enid, Altus, Lookeba, and others. Winners included Y. Ryan for Barred Rocks and Silver Laced Wyandottes, Bull Rocks, and White Wyandottes prize listings, with scores up to 93 and a near perfect 97 hen noted from an Altus entrant.

Missionary Society Organizes at Elgin Methodist Parish

Miss Shannon spoke at the Sunday service then led a 3 o clock meeting at the Methodist parsonage to organize a women foreign Missionary society in Elgin. Attendance was good and officers were named: President Mrs H P Rosaker, Vice President Mrs Alma Howe, Secretary Mrs C Brandon, Corresponding Secretary Mrs H Seeker, Treasurer Miss Cora Ray.

Moving Picture Show Gives Free Return Night

The lights failed at the cinema Friday, prompting Bert Miller to offer free admission to last Friday’s audience. He announced a reprise night next Friday with screenings of "Uncle Tom's Cabin."

Interesting Talk by Miss Shannon at Methodist Church

Returned missionary from Burmah, Miss Shannon, spoke Sunday morning. She described missions in Italy, Egypt with rising Mohammedan influence, conditions in India, and her five year tenure as superintendent of a girls' school in Burma with about 400 pupils.
