David Jones Dies at 64 Near Elgin Oklahoma

David Jones died at his home east of Elgin at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving day after a week of illness from paralysis. He was 64 years, 11 months and 25 days old. Funeral services were held at the Fletcher Methodist Church with Rev. B. M. Nelson, burial in Fletcher Cemetery. Born December 1, 1840, in Jackson County Alabama, he moved to Texas at age four, later to Oklahoma a year ago near Elgin. He married Elizabeth Rozelle in 1873 in Cherokee County Texas. Survived by 11 children, several grandchildren, a brother John of Hico Texas, two sisters in Texas, and his widow Elizabeth Rozelle. A longtime member of the Methodist Church, he was described as a true Christian gentleman.

The Indien of the Methodist church will hold a pie supper in the Elgin school building on Saturday evening with a literary program of music recitations and readings. Pies will be sold to the highest bidder and proceeds go to the piano fund. Ladies and girls are urged to bring pies and join the event.

R M Estes Dead Bank President Dies in Oklahoma City

Word reached Elgin that R M Estes, Sulphur born president of the Bank of Cyril and former head of the Bank of Elgin, died from appendicitis in Oklahoma City last Friday. He had served as a judge in the Egin Cyril high school debate shortly before, appearing in good health at that time.

Dinner A Success At Methonet Chorea Fund Dinner

A dinner for 25 was hosted by the Methonet chorea group at Prairie. Despite rough notes, the event raised real receipts totaling 40.05 dollars, with a net amount of 31.55 dollars placed toward a fund to purchase wine for the Methodist church.

He not discouraged howe er, with the rooming house busi ness in Lawter, and says after a rest of a month or more he will be into the business there again, locating closer to the busines part of the city.
