David Jones Dies at 64 Near Elgin Oklahoma
David Jones died at his home east of Elgin at 6 a.m. on Thanksgiving day after a week of illness from paralysis. He was 64 years, 11 months and 25 days old. Funeral services were held at the Fletcher Methodist Church with Rev. B. M. Nelson, burial in Fletcher Cemetery. Born December 1, 1840, in Jackson County Alabama, he moved to Texas at age four, later to Oklahoma a year ago near Elgin. He married Elizabeth Rozelle in 1873 in Cherokee County Texas. Survived by 11 children, several grandchildren, a brother John of Hico Texas, two sisters in Texas, and his widow Elizabeth Rozelle. A longtime member of the Methodist Church, he was described as a true Christian gentleman.
