Providence reporters say W. J. Bryan was under arrest for fast auto driving after a record-breaking dash across Rhode Island. W. A. Mill, car owner and a Republican, was summoned to court to pay a $50 fine. The Bryan affair committee denounces police handling and seeks formal charges.

Mobile residents report a woman, Margaret Bradford, a widow, set her bed ablaze while suffering mental derangement. She saturated the bed with oil and, after lighting it, calmly lay still until the flames forced her to flee into the street shouting in agony. Medical staff struggled to treat her as the fire was controlled.
Lemans France September 21 Wilbur Wright, American aeroplanist, piloted at Auvoirs field for 15 minutes 25 seconds setting a new world record.
Orville Wright will not take payment until the aeroplane passes government tests. Chas. R. Flint, Wright's business manager, said government rewards were not being sought for past efficiency. Wright is recovering in hospital and eager to resume flights as the Wrights hold several airships at Dayton and aim to fulfill government contracts promptly.
William J. Bryan proposed the mascot mile as a prize to the county with the largest percent increase in the vote for Democratic electors over the average in the last three campaigns. The offer was stated in a letter to National Chairman Mack and disclosed today.

Aberdeen Sept. 21. Henry H. Williams, postmaster of this city, died suddenly of heart failure yesterday morning. He had recently returned from a health trip and was reported improving. Gen. H. Jumper, his assistant, will get the postmaster’s duties.

Petitions circulate to meet state ballot requirements with key organizers named in Casselton and Fargo as speakers Hearst Hisgen Graves and others may appear in Fargo Grand Forks and Ellshore with a parade banquet and excursion plans for a major campaign event.
