The Jenkins lumber mill plant in Blaine Washington was nearly wiped out by a fire last night with an estimated loss of $500000. Fire crews battled the blaze through the night and contained damage to the mill complex. No injuries were reported.
Lincoln Oct 13. B L Sheppard traveling salesman for Marshall Pennywright Scales and Mrs Leona Bruner stewardess at the Lincoln Commercial club were found dead in the man’s apartments in a North Eleventh Street business block. Gas poured from the room and investigators forced entry as the space was filled with gas. The couple had been living there.
A Taft campaign train was wrecked near Sterling, Ohio, this morning causing a minor delay. Taft addressed Clevelanders in the afternoon, while other Republican nominees and officials were shaken but unharmed.
Two cars of the Taft party special were ditched when a spreading rail knocked the tracks near Sterling Ohio. No injuries reported and delay was slight.
The Taft campaign special derailed in Sterling at 10 20 this morning as Judge Taft's car and a Pullman left the track on a siding. Rail damage caused a 30 minute delay while Taft spoke to local residents. One journal of the truck cracked but deemed safe. The accident blamed on spreading rails on the siding.

Winnipeg reports a large portion of Stettler Alberta burned this morning. The Grand Union hotel, twenty stores, four other hotels, Merchants bank and post office were wiped out. Leslie Miller of Riggs and Wyles stores died in his sleep. Loss pegged at 250000 with fair insurance.
Washington Oct. 13 General Larrie Wright secretary of war and lifelong Democrat will speak for Taft in Richmond Virginia and is expected to tour Tennessee later in the campaign. Wright announced his acceptance of the invitation to campaign on Taft's behalf.

The bureau with headquarters in Washington announced its programme last night through Rev Dr Wilbur Crafts its superintendent. It plans to seek global leadership for the present U S president within a reasonable period.
