New York, Oct 8 A millionaire fish merchant Dieckmann and his family watched as a runaway carriage dashed along the Palisades edge at Hoboken. Mrs Dieckmann leaped to safety and was killed when her skull was crushed as the horses bolted. The maid and the son were injured.
Two men died and one was injured when a Great Northern passenger train derailed near Marias River in Butte Montana. Fireman William F Ramsheck of White Sulphur Springs died at the scene while engineer Charles L McClintock suffered severe injuries. A wiper remains unidentified. The high speed collision with soft road bed sent the engine into a ditch and buried Ramsheck and a wiper under wreckage as passengers were shaken up.
In New York on October 8 two women fought after a heated argument at a meeting of the National Progressive Women's Suffrage union. The scuffle drew in other attendees and police reserves restored order. Speakers Mary Coleman Helen Murphy and Dr Julia Sears stirred the crowd. Coleman fainted as hostilities began.
A massive explosion at the jointly owned grain elevator of the Canadian Pacific and Boston & Maine railroads in Richford Vermont destroyed the roof and caused a large fire. Twelve men and one woman died and another woman was fatally burned. Twenty one men worked there. eleven are missing. Mrs John Jelifore died nearby. another woman was badly burned. Estimated loss reaches 400000 dollars.
Petersburg reports the cholera situation under control with 74 new cases in the city hospitals in the last 24 hours, a drop of 50 from the prior day. There were 57 deaths and 124 discharged as cured. a note requests Frank Snyder in Fargo to contact B. B. Bickham of Columbus, Ohio, about his ill daughter.
Attorney John Tilly suffered a severe stomach and liver attack yesterday and was admitted to St. Luke's hospital. He remained in critical condition overnight but showed some improvement today.

Waterbury Conn Oct 8. A gas leak soaked sleeping rooms of a Bank street boarding house run by Guisepp Santoro killing four young Italians and rendering eight more and two women unconscious or partially overcome as police arrived.
Mr and Mrs F L Conklin of Bismarck with Miss Myrtle Thomas narrowly escaped serious injury in an auto accident near Steele. The car hit soft sand, wheels twisted, turning the vehicle upside down with all three underneath. They were stunned. Mrs Conklin and Miss Thomas had only slight bruises while Mr Conklin sustained an injured leg. They returned to Bismarck in the evening on No 1.
New rules require all shipments to use a new form of bill of lading approved by the Interstate Commerce Commission. Covering 416 roads from the Mississippi to the Ohio River and westward, the measure sets carrier responsibility for damage or loss.
Pittsburg dispatch reports the Chicago and Alton Railway placed a duplicate order for 1000 cars with Standard Steel Car Co of Pittsburg. Cars will be built in Hammond Indiana plants for delivery in coming weeks.

In a late night speech the President Judge Alton B Parker is accused of asserting that Roosevelt accepted and spent 9100,000 of Standard Oil money during the 1906 campaign. The remark targets Roosevelt and links money from Standard Oil to campaign actions.
