Washington dispatch reports from American Minister Rockhill in Peking that the emperor and dowager empress are dying. Two edicts about regency were issued and the emperor is moved to the death chamber in Forbidden City.
Foreign residents in Pekin report confusion over today’s palace rumors and the lack of official confirmation about the emperor’s reported death and the empress dowager’s condition.
Pekin Nov 13 The emperor was reported dead at 4 PM though no official confirmation by 6 PM. He was moved to the death chamber at 2 PM while still breathing. The dowager empress attended the palace meeting as grand council officials crowded the Forbidden City and government offices emptied.
Incendiary blaze destroyed the drug store, office, and ire of Dr. W. B. McClure at Sherburne Bath County. One man is under arrest, another is believed fatally stabbed. Capt. Mulliken with bloodhounds traced the trail to Barry Morgan where Morgan was arrested. A confrontation with T. Daugherty led to a stabbing of Harry Sossa.
The case brought by Judge Le foun B. Wilfly against O'Shea editor of the Chicna Gazette was decided in favor of the plaintiff. O'Shea received a two month imprisonment sentence. Trial began four days earlier before the British court of Bhanghal with proceedings recorded by British Motieriticg at the request of Judge Wiley.
Liverpool Nov 14 The coasting crew of a ship named Erin is missing after Saturday’s storm. The vessel, with a crew of nineteen, was last seen between the English Channel and the coast. Little doubt remains that all hands were lost.

New York November 18 A man identified as Chas W Morse known for hat wrecking received an additional decade of imprisonment. His grayed hair and worn face reflect the conviction as authorities announce no bail before December 3. Legal teams seek a stay and appeal to the United States Circuit Court of Appeals on Morse’s petition for a new trial.
Pittsburg November jury acquitted Addison C. Alt, former discount clerk at Allegheny National Bank, on aiding and abetting ex cashier William Montgomery in an embezzlement case. The bank’s shortage is reported around 1.2 million, with Montgomery already twice convicted on related charges of embezzlement and abstraction.
A New York report claims James Stillman president of the National City Bank and “Standard Oil Bank” owner controls The Outlook, where Roosevelt will serve as a contributing editor after his presidency. Outlook Co. officials refuse to disclose stockholder names, insisting the firm is private and no stockholder identities will be released. Stillman, currently in Paris, is cited as the controlling figure.
In a game tonight Fargo College leads Agricultural College 7 to 0 at halftime. Separately Chiry arrives to face charges of larceny involving 56 000 in executinse and jewelry, escorted by a maid and Detective Tierney of Chicago.
In Rutland Vermont November 13 the case of Father Francis Crociatta Italian priest ends with all counts of complicity in Santoro’s murder withdrawn. The state finds no evidence of a conspiracy. Lena Black 17 testified the priest helped plan a chastisement that led to Santoro’s death. Crociata now faces a breach of peace charge for allegedly citing others to chastise Santoro.
Macon Missouri November 13 The local Knights Templar lodge asks the Washington secretary of state to probe the disappearance of Dr Abraham K Mussalem who left Macon for Turkey June 26 1908 and was to return Sept 18 He was a Knights Templar and an Elk Fears arise that his passport may have been revoked as the unsettled Turkish situation prevents return
Washington reports Colonel George H. Torney is named surgeon general of the army to succeed Surgeon General M. M. O Reilly. Torney currently heads the general hospital at San Francisco and the vacancy will occur on January 14.
Denver November 13 rumors of contested AFL officer elections surface ahead of the vote. Samuel Gompers heads the federation facing possible opposition from Thomas L. Lewis former UMWA president and vice president of AFL. Mitchell may seek reelection for second vice president with Lewis poised to challenge.
LaPorte Indiana November 13 Judge Richter allows coroner verdict report as primary evidence in Lamphere case. Coroner Mack testified finding bodies of an adult female and three children among ruins at the Death Farm of Mrs Gunness. Washington November 18 Navy to build wireless tower and related buildings in the capital area to extend navy communications radius.
James Merryweather, an Englishman described as strikingly handsome, dressed in bridal attire and hanged himself from a bedpost with a window cord in his Fourth Avenue room. A letter found in his closet revealed a man had helped him dress as a woman, a secret unknown to friends.
