Pittsburg June 30 A man believed to be J Terneman of Wheeling West Virginia was killed and Edward Ward and G Irwin of this city were fatally hit in an automobile accident near Brad. During the night the accident ended a toy ride of six persons. Three escaped and have not been found. The dead man’s body was found beneath the car with his head through the windshield and neck broken.
Drenching rains swept northwestern North Dakota last night with Minot reporting heavy precipitation until after 11. The storm stretched into Canada northward and as far west as Stan Wey with rain also reaching McKenzie County. Wheat stands ten to twelve inches high near Minot, improving conditions compared with previous years.
In Lockney Texas on June 30 Mrs Mawle McCrary formerly of Los Angeles killed her three children aged 2 6 and 3 months and hanged herself in a vacant house after being driven by heat A search party later found the children in weeds near the house and the mother’s body at a windmill The woman was visiting her mother Mrs R M Milton.
New York June 20 The first attempt to drop a parcel from an airship to a moving ship failed to land aboard the Olympic. Aviator Tom Sopwith and Richard Sinclair tested the method for W Atlee Burpee by delivering merchandise contracted from a department store. The drop missed the deck, despite calculated timing.
Bemidji Minnesota June 10 Following the preliminary examination yesterday Dr DM Dumas mayor of Caps Lake was held on charges of attempt to commit arson and robbery in connection with a plot to burn the post office at Puposky eighteen miles north on June 17. He was bound over to await the determination of the Madison grand jury and bond of ten thousand dollars was furnished by Fred Dumas of Minneapolis.
Columbus reports a bribery trial where a voice recording, not a named person, is set to be accepted as evidence. Authorities intend to prove the voice belongs to Mr Diegel, a key figure, amid debate over voice identification and recording legality. The phonograph record allegedly captures a bribe offer during a conversation between a detective and Diegel.
New York June 30 eighty four manufacturers were criminally indicted yesterday for pooling their business in violation of the Sherman Act and will appear to plead July 5 as the case moves through the LL. B. circuit court with Judge Archbald presiding. No warrants have been issued and no arrests made but counsel for defendants will be asked to produce them in court.
Washington June 30 Pus ay foot Johnson of Indian Hid fame reports finalizing field work for the present fiscal year. He notes arrests in Northern Minnesota and believes a bad gang has been unearthed by local officers. He says fund availability will match last year to curb liquor among Indians amid Minnesota suspensions pending a Supreme Court decision on Bemidji saloon cases.
Cooperstown N C June 30 The Griggs county fair drew a large crowd despite rainy weather. All but one race were run as the track stayed heavy from downpours. The 1 minute race was won by Dan Q owned by Tom Riley of Fargo with Gribbonwood second and Rose third.
Rugby North Dakota June report states receivers for Rugby and Barton banks will sue former treasurer Peterson to recover 4700 dollars. Allegations claim Peterson received 4708 dollars from Andy Jones for approving excess vouchers. Legislative Investigating Committee released findings yesterday, asserting Peterson profited from the bank funds.
Washington June 30 Cummins warned that Canadian railway rate manipulation could give Canada a monopoly on many American markets under reciprocity. He urged an amendment letting the president restore tariffs if Canadian railways push unfairly low rates to flood the American market. Senator Gamble labeled the measure a severe blow to American agriculture and said it failed party principles, risking farmers’ prosperity and values. June 30 Buffalo. Seven workmen crushed to death and seven others badly hurt when a roof and other sections of the Buffalo water department’s new pumping station collapse at the Porter avenue site. Victims were in a pit fifty feet below the first floor as hundreds of tons of steel brick and mortar buried them. Most injured were on the roof. the dead are not expected to recover. Cause undetermined at report time.
Washington June 30 Robert M Farrar of Wahpeton North Dakota son of Bob Farrar secretary to Senator McCumber has passed the entrance examinations for Annapolis Naval Academy at age 16, said to be the youngest candidate to clear the tough tests for admission. R J Sunderham of North Dakota also among successful candidates.
London June 30 The shipping strike stretches into new areas after partial settlements. Dock hands who supported sea going comrades demand terms for shore gangs before any acceptance. Hull faced riotous scenes with 600 police dispatched overnight.
Berlin reports Hirth, a German aviator, and a passenger completed a five hour forty one minute flight from Munich to Berlin with stops at Nu remberg and Leipsic. He won a prize of 12000 dollars. Express trains cover Munich to Berlin in ten hours.
Washington reports Taft after talks with Secretary Stimson and General Wood authorizes withdrawal of four regiments from the San Antonio maneuver division. The action leaves some units in reserve in the south while others depart.
New York June 30 J B Reichmann former Carnegie Trust Co president was convicted of making false reports to the state banking department. He was sentenced to four and a half months in the penitentiary by Justice Davie of the criminal branch of the supreme court.
W T de Morgenstierne secretary to Ambassador Byrne and Norwegian minister toured Devils Lake North Dakota as part of a vacation tour. He traveled from Washington via the middle west visiting Grand Forks and Port Totten with Consul Bendeke and Ole Serum gard guiding him. He praised the land and Indian sightseers while noting his countrymen have done well here.

Fire at the Chisfian mine of Clarksburg Coal Co. in Wilconburg, Clarksburg, Va, rages with flames threatening the entire mine. Devils Lake North Dakota June 30 Judge Cowan officiated at the marriage of Mims Carrie Haugen and George Danielson both of Derrick in the probate court office with F A Schraeder helping after Judge Henry was absent. The courthouse crew gathered to witness the ceremony and the judge treated it as a milestone in his long district court career.
Washington reports the senate agreed to adjourn to next Wednesday to observe the Fourth of July. The move ends the current session early as leaders push holiday plans and lawmakers prepare for independence celebrations.
