In Lansing on June 21 a horse drawn buggy collided with an interurban car. Mr. and Mrs. Matthew Bets of Grand Rapids and Mrs. William Lott of Holt were killed instantly, with Mr. Lott fatally injured. The horse had cleared the track but reared in fear, driving the buggy into the car’s path.
In Kansas City Missouri on June 27 the Rt Rev Sidney C Partridge formerly bishop of Kyoto Japan was enthroned as bishop of the Protestant Episcopal diocese of Kansas City In the presence of bishops from western dioceses and a large crowd. The ceremony honored the late Bishop BH BR and featured remarks from bishops including Daniel E Tuttle C P Anderson and Edward W Osborne.

Edward Russell Gambier banker testified in a New York separation suit filed by his wife Edith Russell Gambier Atlantic society girl. He recalled their honeymoon abroad, mainly a shipboard life with his wife dancing extensively. He admitted embracing her once, noting her arms around him might have felt like a barrel.
New York June 27 A civil suit was filed in the United States court for the dissolution of the periodical clearing house and about a score of other magazines. The petition by District Attorney Wise alleges unlawful combinations in restraint of trade and seeks dissolution of the defendants led by the periodical clearing house and publishers including Doubleday Page Co Crowell Publishing Co Harper and Brothers, Butterick and several others with named officers and associates.
June 27 Calgary Alberta witnesses say John Fisk was hanged for the murder of rancher Tucker Peach in May 1908. Fisk died protesting his innocence as a confession from an accomplice was reported.
A. Stewart a former immigration agent at Neche was arrested in Winnipeg this morning. A warrant is out for C. Gymm at Neche, charged in connection with the death of Phillip Worral at the Neche detention hospital nearly three years ago. The arrests follow a lengthy Pembina county investigation.
Chicago June 37 Several newspaper men are to testify in the Lee trial today. They and Police Captain Max Danner will be questioned over alleged admissions by Mona Rees and her contradicted testimony. Miss Rees resumes direct examination as the courtroom fills. She declines questions on manuscripts to avoid self incrimination.
Annual address and president’s report show the bankers association in excellent condition. The meeting covers matters of vital importance to the public financial affairs today and highlights the group’s influence in Fargo and beyond.
The ninth annual convention of the North Dakota Bankers association is in session at the Orpheum theatre in Fargo with the largest banker gathering in state history. Delays due to late speakers gave way to a full morning program including Rev J M Walters leading prayer and Hon W R Lovell delivering the welcome. Lewis B Crawford praised rural farming communities and opportunities in the state while C McDowell reviewed the past year and urged fuller association use. Continued on Page Eight.
