Thousands gather in Pat ten's grove near Hope for the second annual picnic marking a new era of community interest and neighborliness in North Dakota. Spectators admire hundreds of cars and touring models, with an estimated $750,000 invested in motor equipment by Steele county farmers.
In Pittsburgh on June 25 an explosion at the Aetna Explosive Company works fatally burned two men. Fire and smoke forced workers to jump from windows as the blast and ensuing flames swept the scene during ongoing experiments.

In a wheat field near Lakota, North Dakota, June 25, Fred Hensey and Chas Travnicek killed a fierce female lynx after a violent encounter half a mile from town. They used a drag stake to dispatch the animal as it threat ened them. The men were gathering mustard when the lynx appeared, and the animal’s mate is feared to be nearby.

Jury found William C Miller guilty in the United States district court after deliberations on charges of transporting May Williams from Minneapolis to Marmarth for an illegal relationship. Judge C F Amidon’s ruling shapes witness rights under state and federal adultery and conspiracy statutes during testimony. May Williams testified despite counsel advice, aiding the government’s case.
Funeral arrangements are set for Chas Swanson who died from injuries when struck by a automobile late at night. The service will take place tomorrow afternoon at Lone Nor way hall at 2 o'clock with an unknown officiant. Interment is planned at Riverside cemetery.
Crowds from the northwest fill Fargo as Norsemen attend four Lag meetings. Officers elected for 1916 include Dr. C. L. Opsal Red Wing as president and G. T. Hagen as secretary. Next annual meeting set for Minneapolis in February 1916. A large fund drive and social events feature the day with parades, concerts, and a final banquet at the Norway Hall.
The case opens in federal court alleging Mae Peterson of Minot and a man named Williams exploited Rachael Livingston of Voltaire North Carolina for profit. Livingston testified they took her from Grand Forks to Kansas City and other places, with tickets bought by Williams. Indictments allege activity occurred in October November 1913. Williams remains at large.
