Fargo College Holds 1913 Graduation Ceremony

Fargo College celebrated its 1913 graduating class with nineteen Bachelor of Arts degrees and eleven conservatory diplomas. Dr J L Gordon of Winnipeg delivered the commencement address on Inspiration the Greatest Fact in Human Experience. Degrees of Doctor of Laws and Doctor of Divinity were conferred on invited figures amid procession, music, and a campus-wide alma mater sung by the audience.

Desperadoes Fail to Loot Express Safe

Two masked men robbed the Diamond Special two miles south of Springfield Illinois, failing to open the express car safe. Detective OLeary was relieved of his watch as police pursued, but no robber was captured. The safe contained 500 dollars.

Taft to preside at Gettysburg July Fourth speech

Gettysburg, Pa reports that former President Taft will preside over the major gathering and deliver the principal oration on July 4, after news that the current president will not attend. Organizers aim to assemble many Gettysburg women who once sang patriotic songs as Buford’s cavalry advanced.

Militant Suffragists Sentenced in London Meeting Case

London June 18. Two militant suffragists, Mrs Clarendon and Mrs Hyde, and Miss Bunting of the Women's Freedom League, were sentenced today to fourteen days for obstructing police at a suffragette meeting near Premier Asquiths residence. Six other suffragettes were sentenced yesterday to long prison terms for conspiracy and began a hunger strike after entering the jail.

New Haven June 18 Nearly 800 degrees were conferred at Yale University today. Of this number 125 were recipients of higher degrees and the remainder were bachelors of art and philosophy.

Terrific storm at Garrison burns elevator and crops

A morning electrical storm in Garrison North Dakota at 6 o clock destroyed the Kiem and Schauer elevator burning it to the ground. It held 1200 bushels of flax and 500 bushels of wheat for a total loss of 8000 dollars. Three horses on farmer G Metzers property were killed and many homes and farms were struck by lightning.

North High Minneapolis Fire Kills One Fireman Six Injured

Minneapolis June 18 A fire at North High School killed firefighter Frank Kanes Ky and seriously injured six others with one possibly fatally hurt. The blaze leveled the building and its contents valued at about 375000 dollars. The cause remains unknown as roof collapse trapped the crew atop a adjoining roof while fighting the flames.

Reverend Walter B Snow secretary of the North Dakota State Sunday School association leads a party of North Dakotans to Montreal then sails on the Scotian to London and Zurich for the Worlds Sunday School convention in Zurich. The delegation includes Mr and Mrs M C Cansell Hannah James Austin Harris Hemmerty and Mrs George Bingenheimer. They travel via Niagara Falls and St Lawrence departing June 22 and arriving Zurich July 15 via the Scotian and Scotian steamers.
