Cooper Held in California Bet Forger Case

Wheatland forgery suspect B Cooper, arrested in San Diego and returned to face charges, is held in Los Angeles County insane hospital. $8,000 cash bail forfeited. prosecutors question sanity and consider actions to recover the bail if he was insane at the time. Cooper had prior sanitarium confinement and was recently captured after a struggle.

Case against Mrs Henry dismissed in Fargo police court

The state’s case against Mrs Maude Henry for assault and battery was dismissed after Alma Nystrom positively stated the incident occurred in Moorhead. Fargo schools head named temporary fair secretary

Bupt. W. B. Hoover of the Fargo public schools has been chosen by the Interstate Fair association board as temporary secretary and will direct fair details July 27 to 31. He will work with Lee C. E. Wilson and a corps of department superintendents to oversee the exhibition, races managed by other officers.

Stricken with paralysis weeks ago, Mr Hoover will direct scores of details only he can know while remaining unable to move. Mr Wilson now back in harness. Fargo schools shone at last summer’s state fair proving Hoover no novice. Board of directors chose a fortunate, capable superintendent whose hands-on spirit promises a fair exposition to be proud of.

Preparatory Class Graduates Diplomas at Fargo College

The class of '09 Preparatory graduates at Fargo College received their diplomas in a Saturday chapel ceremony. Eight graduates were honored as decorations and music enhanced the close, with Rev. F. M. Hubbell delivering a guiding address about rising above circumstance and using one talent well. President Vittum urged cooperation with life’s major aims and the value of lifelong education.

Rev C H Phillips of Jamestown preached at the First Congregational church to Fargone and city youth on ambition and worth. He urged aiming for large, noble roles sanctioned by God and cited pilgrims Lincoln Livingstone and Hale as examples of sustaining faith and striving.

YM Y M C A Boys Summer Schedule For Pool Use

The Y M C A boys department has arranged a summer schedule effective June 14 matching last year. Employed and high school boys may use the pool on Tue Thu and Sat evenings from 7 30 to 8 o clock. Gym access is voluntary and baths close at 9 pm. Newsboys and A Intermediate evenings run 7 30 to 8 in the gym. Saturday morning hours are 9 30 to 11 30. B Intermediates meet Thu 4 30 to 6 30. Juniors Sat 9 to 10 30. Swimming classes Tue and Fri mornings 10 36 to 11 30 under Mr Van der Meer. Also noted are local drugstore sales and serial No 4572 on a label.

Summer School Offers At North Dakota Agricultural College

The Industrial Summer School runs from August 2 to 26 to promote agricultural and industrial instruction in North Dakota schools. Director Professor Weeku oversees a program featuring noted agricultural speakers led by Dr. L. M. Bailey of Cornell. Courses cover elementary agriculture, agronomy, animal industry, rural education, manual training, domestic science, and nature study, with recreation on the campus grounds.

Great Fargo Grand Forks inter city relay to be held

One week from tomorrow on June 22 the great inter city relay between Fargo and Grand Forks M C A will take place. The Fargo committee is assigning entrants and distances by ability while Grand Forks also fixes its own courses. Each team must enter the same number of boys.

Civil Service Examinations Announced For Various Posts

The Civil Service Commission announces exams in this city for July to secure eligibles for United States penitentiary service guards at 840 dollars a year and for classification roles in the Geological Survey with salaries 960 to 1600. Postponements to July 8 9 affect clerical translators in Washington DC at 1600 a year. Additional exams are planned for poultry laborers at Bethesda Maryland and other bureau positions as vacancies occur.
