Order of St Olaf Conferred Today on Dr Boeckman

The United Lutheran church of America marks a major day as Dr M O Boeckman of St Paul receives the Order of St Olaf, the king of Norway’s highest honor, conferred by Rev Hans Nilsen Hauge as envoy. Are There 200 Citizens of Fargo Who Will Give $1 Each

A local drive asks Fargo residents to contribute one dollar to fund a safe and sane Fourth of July celebration for city children. The campaign hopes 200 donors can raise 200 dollars to cover fireworks and event expenses, with The Forum, The Courier News and the commercial club acknowledging donors. Existing supporters include Forum staff and local professionals, with Secretary Stine coordinating contributions.

Borrowed engine crash kills two men near Silver Grove

A roundhouse man employed at the Peake & Ohio near Silver Grove borrowed a locomotive to pick flowers for his wife. Early today the engine collided with another, killing both men and injuring three others. Both engines were demolished.

Big Week for Fargo College Begins Commencement Events

Fargo College marks its silver anniversary with graduation exercises at the First Methodist church tonight. Dr Andrew A Bruce of the Supreme Court is the featured speaker. The baccalaureate sermon by Rev R A Beard is set for tomorrow at the First Presbyterian church. An annual sermon to Christian societies at Fargo College will be delivered Friday evening June 9 at Gethsemane. Proceeds from the service support Young Women's Christian work in Fargo.

Man shoots wife then kills self in Chicago

Chicago. June 3. William Haller, a carpenter, shot his wife through both cheeks after being chided for staying out until 2 a.m. He then shot himself in the forehead and died. Mrs. Haller, 28, was unconscious when police arrived and taken to hospital. Physicians said both cheeks bore the same bullet.

Vast Throng at Capital of Nation

A massive Washington crowd gathered to honor Christopher Columbus with a memorial fountain funded by Congress. About 100000 visitors filled the city as a Knights of Columbus contingent, estimated at half that number, joined the tribute. Mercer County Development league forms with record turnout

The Mercer County Development league organized by the Slope Development league drew over 500 farmers to Richter's grove, Stanton. French Crew of 26 Lost in Sea Collision

During practice maneuvers of the French fleet this morning the battleship St Louis struck the submarine Vende miairé. The smaller craft disappeared and is believed cut in two with the loss of all twenty six crew. The accident occurred between Aurigny Island and Cape Hastings in Alderney race where strong tidal currents prevail.
