Norwegian Bishop to Attend Fargo Conference Tonight

Two representatives of the Lutheran state church of Norway Bishop Boeckman and Rev Hans Nilson Hauge arrived in Fargo this evening aboard the Oriental Limited via the Great Northern The visit marks a first official Norwegian bishop's stay in America and follows a convention decision to host them as special guests. The gathering also heard reports on seminary graduates church finances and union talks with the Norwegian synod and Hauage's synod.

Remington to Go Free in North Dakota Pardons

In Bismarck on June 7 the North Dakota Board of Pardons granted a mix of full pardons and commutations for nineteen applicants, including Andrew Jensen for assault and Bernard Reed for robbery. Joseph Remington, sentenced for murder, was deemed freed due to lack of authority to rescind the prior action, with an expected release around August.

Albert A. Davis Still Missing in North Dakota

Lakimore, June 7. Anxiety remains over the disappearance of Albert A. Davis who was last seen in Northwood May 28. He left home without an overcoat, a reven and handkerchief. Supposed to have mental disorder, friends hope for his speedy recovery and return. He was a member of the last North Dakota legislature.

Boston in an uproar big strike across city lines

At dawn several thousand Boston elevated railway workers struck in a largely unorganized uprising. Cars were halted, windows smashed, and crews attacked as unions claimed 1 389 to 8 in favor. Aluminum Co of America settles monopoly case in court

Pittsburg June 7 a decree to destroy an alleged substantial monopoly of the aluminum trust was entered in the United States court here today. The consented decree abrogates unlawful contracts and restrains negotiating similar pacts or unfair methods to ward competitors. The action followed the government’s anti trust suit and protracted negotiations with the company prior to filing. This marks a historic consent decree prior to court proceedings.

Explosion at Woollesdorff factory kills twelve in Vienna area

An explosion at the Woollesdorff ammunition factory in Wiener Neustadt near Vienna killed twelve people, mainly soldiers and workers, and shattered windows across the town. Prizes Offered for Corn Yield in North Dakota Fields

The Better Farming association offers cash and gold prizes for the highest yielding acre of mature corn in North Dakota. Taft Wins Alabama Delegates in First Chicago Contest

At the Republican National Committee hearings in Chicago the Taft camp secured the first contest victory over the Alabama delegates at large by a 63 to 8 vote. Roosevelt forces yielded on the district seats, with Taft winning the fifth district and Roosevelt delegates allowed to appeal to the convention. The session 10:10 this morning reflected Taft strength despite Roosevelt opposition as delegates from Alabama moved toward Long leading Taft.

Troops to Cuba to assist in restoring order

Washington reports a War Department statement that 3,000 to 5,000 U. S. troops will be sent to Cuba aboard transports from Newport News Plattsburg Fort Porter Fort Niagara Governors Island McPherson and Ogithorpe. The aim is to restore order with no intent to interfere in Cuba's affairs. In Havana a group of armed blacks attacked a sugar mill, but were repelled by guards and cavalry from Sump Columbia.
