Trade Commission Bill Only One That Will Be Reported Out to the Senate

Washington June 6 The senate interstate commerce committee voted to report out only the trade commission portion of the bill. No vote record. Chairman Newlands said the panel would segregate the trade commission from supplemental legislation and may adopt a substitute for his bill to create a federal trade commission. The panel argued the feared intrusions on 350000 corporations are unfounded, noting current bureau powers. Debate on interlocking directorates and rail securities continues, with Newlands aiming to report next week and push unfinished business after Panama tolls repeal.
