The Scottish Rite in Fargo will mark its thirtieth anniversary tonight at the Masonic Temple. A new block for Emerson Brantingham Implement Co. will rise on Northern Pacific avenue, costing about 50000 dollars.
President Wilson ordered about 500000 acres of North Dakota land opened to entry. The land lies mainly in Morton county and Adams county with one township in Betsinger county, held in reserve for years pending classification by the geological survey. Much is coal land with workable lignite and near a railroad, offered at $20 an acre. Restoration also includes 966 acres on the Big Blackfoot in Montana and 530 acres on the Little Fork in Minnesota, previously set as power site reserves.
Washington June 4 Despite coal operators urging delay the senate committee investigating West Virginia strike disorders plans to begin hearings in Charlestown on June 10. Operators say the probe could restart unrest and even trigger a general strike while linking agitation to an alleged plot against Governor Hatfield. A militant suffragette stunt during the Derby at Epsom led to the probable death of a woman, allegedly Emily Wilding Davison, as King George V’s horse Anmer bolted and trampled a spectator near Tottenham Corner. Aboyeur won the Derby with a longshot bet.
In Kansas City on June 4 the Operative Millers Association discussed the future of flour production. The meeting highlighted self rising flour as a key area for millers to master for overall industry advancement.
Henderson Kentucky June 4 a reign of terror feared to be worse than in recent years as organized night riders threaten tobacco growers in the district. Over the past week minor depredations occurred nightly and letters were sent to Wm. Eliot president of the Stemming District Tobacco Association and Leigh Harris editor of The Henderson Journal warning that no tobacco will be produced. Farmers are arming themselves for defense against the threat.
Wheatland won the state I O O F Rebekah degree contest with an 85 percent rating, earning $100 as the top unit. Oakleaf lodge 19 Wheatland led Fairmont. Wheatland also claimed the Rebekah degree prize at Stone's Hall in a close, judged contest. The Wheatland team aims for the sovereign grand lodge in Minneapolis, with officers led by Captain Allie Mares and Noble Grand Anna Wilson.

Kansas City June 3 Captain John B White director of the National Lumber Manufacturers Association and past president of the National Conservation Congress urged conservation as the solution to the rapid timber decline He argued the state should plant and maintain forests noting lumber trees yield long term crops unlike fruit trees and that forestry should be run by trained experts with favorable financing The convention will close tonight.

The move follows the acquittal of Deputy Desace in a criminal suit accusing the premier of corruption linked to the Bank of Hungary, with adjournment ensuing.
A force of 1000 federal soldiers with artillery heads from Vera Cruz aboard the gunboat Vera Cruz toward Matamoras to reoccupy the area as reported by the war department. Washington June 4 Attorney General McReynolds proposes a sliding scale tax on tobacco factory outputs to hit large manufacturers as output rises. He says the plan, discussed with the president and cabinet, aims to aid independent firms and may be submitted to Senator Simmons. He calls the trust dissolution a miscarriage of justice and suggests a graduated excise tax as an immediate step. Weir resigns Yale post in New Haven announcing his departure from the Yale fine arts school after 45 years.
The program lists Hon Louis B. Hanna 38 as treasurer of the board of trustees and governor of North Dakota, serving as chairman. Estimated capital of fifty thousand dollars, with additional briquetting project in Minot by L M Darng and associates, signaling Ward County as a potential major briquette district.
In Chicago on June 4 Jno B Vankeuren 62 was shot and killed by his wife who says he forced entry to her home. He claimed intruders were present. The wife was detained pending an inquest. Also notes inquiry into men’s low wages by the Tipo senate welfare commission at a meeting next Friday.
