Washington June 4 The secretary of the treasury received a telegram from Captain Ainworth of the Rush reporting the British sealing schooner Cox John G Cox seized for illegal sealing in fair weather grounds off Alaska. The vessel carried seventy seven seals. The Cox is to be delivered to British authorities near British Columbia under joint regulations. The Rush also cited Japanese sealers in the area with many seal skins aboard, noting they are not subject to welfare outside territorial waters.
President Charles W. Eliot of Harvard University says Theodore Roosevelt will not join Harvard after leaving the White House in 1909. Eliot refutes recent remarks at Lansing, Mich., where Roosevelt’s Harvard connection was interpreted as a retirement move.
