A mob in Springfield, Quebec, attempted to lynch Walter Fisher, a Black man held for the killing of Edward Boone. Sheriff Routzahn moved Fisher to Dayton for safety. the crowd vowed to swing him again when returned for trial.
Des Moines report says Robert Shaffer of Milwaukee died in a Milwaukee eastbound passenger wreck near Perry and seven additional passengers were injured. The incident details describe a collision caused by the Sitchin train near Perry with victims treated at the scene and local authorities launching inquiries.
June 2 report states Postmaster General Payne as RNC chairman appointed United States Senator Penrose as the Pennsylvania member to replace the late Senator Quay on the committee.
