Chicago dispatch reports Ferdinand Wells a 19 year old youth who was shot December 24 by Edward Heaney a special policeman. Heaney faces murder charges to be brought for the life penalty. The garment workers strike has claimed its fourth victim.
New York December details Jos G Robin, indicted on looting the Northern Bank of New York, reportedly took one tenth of a grain of hypacin minutes before his arraignment. Dr McGuire, the tomb physician, said recovery would be a miracle. The case involves a bank official.
A cable from a Soneian source to the war department denies published claims of a telegraph station run by the Philippines and of hidden ammunition. The denial states no such operations or contraband were found and the general detail will answer to the inquiry.
In West Union on December 30 a group of men confessed to selling votes in Judge Blair's court. A grand jury reported 73 true bills, raising total indictments to 1,071. Of those charged, 877 have pleaded guilty. Forty men were invited but unindicted, and have pleaded guilty.
Veranilles France December 30 Lieut Caumant of the army aviation corps fell from a height of sixty feet while tenting a new monoplane. Both arms and both legs were broken and his condition is critical.
A farmer near Port Madison, Chiia Schock, shot and killed his wife during a quarrel. County officials will conduct an inquiry into his sanity before any criminal proceedings begin.
William C Strickler shot his wife and 10 year old stepdaughter Beulah Kile at their Baltimore County residence then killed himself. Domestic trouble listed as the cause. Strickler was a firefighter by occupation.
Washington December 27 preparations to prosecute the electrical trust have been completed by Attorney General Wickersham. William S Kenyon and Wade Ellis will lead the case against the trust described as the greatest in the world. Prominent eastern financiers sit on the boards of General Electric and Westinghouse including J Pierpont Morgan and others.
Sixteen battleships of the U S Atlantic fleet left Cherbourg after a six week tour in European waters. Officers and men were entertained by government officials and civic bodies in France and England. They will head home tomorrow with Guantanamo Cuba as the immediate destination, arriving around January 16.
Sedalia Missouri December police report deputy sheriff Charles Herd en of Baline county escaped after fourteen hours as captor prisoners who beat him and attempted to force a draft of 1000 dollars. He suffered a fractured rib and serious condition. The robbers escaped.

Henry Hanrahan former Grand Forks player and Northern League shortstop fell into fast rapids on the Columbia River near Wenatchee Washington while working on a river steamer. Son of James Hanrahan of the city and brother of William Hanrahan also played in the Northern League. Details of the death are limited.
In Plymouth Wisconsin a poison plot struck three households when candy laced with strychnine was left on porches addressed to J A Eastman and others. J A Eastman and his daughter were rushed to care after eating some. both survived. Large quantities were found in candy at J A Curtis and William Holling homes as authorities investigate.
A joint note from mediating powers led by the United States Brazil and Argentina urged Peru to submit its boundary dispute with Ecuador to the Hague tribunal. The note warned that Ecuador may reject the suggestion and war could follow, citing delays by King Alfonso of Spain and ongoing mobilizations on both sides.
Williamsport Pa Dec 30 A Phillipsburg fire swept through a business district destroying about 100000 in property including a 40000 Bell Telephone Co building. Firefighters battled the blaze as flames engulfed several blocks and caused extensive damage to storefronts and structures.
Washington reports a deep cold wave and storm across much of the United States for the next 24 hours. Temperatures plunge to 20 degrees below zero in Duluth Minnesota and Devils Lake North Dakota as a northern push follows a southern storm. Winnipeg sits at 42 below zero while Moorhead and Red River valley expect a brief let up tonight.

James Beale, held for arson in Houpt after a general store fire, broke jail for the second time. A $25 reward was offered by Grand Rapids officials for his capture. Beale, recaptured after fleeing to Red Lake, escaped again days ago and is now at large.
A blaze at the Concorms apartment house on Eleventh Street in St Paul destroyed the building. An unidentified woman died and thirteen others were injured, three of whom were believed fatally. The explosion likely started on the second story and triggered a rapid collapse. Many tenants lost clothing and money as they fled in night attire.
Great Northern Station Agent Kenneth B. Willams, 20, was shot in the forearm during a morning hold up at Fisher Minnesota. He fired back, pursued the robber along the tracks, and a posse searched the woods toward the Red Lake River between Fisher and Grand Forks for the suspect. The attacker was described as a stranger.
In New York a 17-man raid on an Elizabeth Street Italian grocery leads to Giacomo Crim i, 27, held on kidnapping charges after trembling through a police exam. A 11 year old boy, Guiseppe Di Stefano, identified Crim i as the kidnapper from last summer, while only one other prisoner, Giuseppe Crim i, was detained.

Des Moines reports robbers entered a Dow City bank during the night, blew the safe, and escaped with 3900 dollars. The incident follows another bank break in New Palestine, Indiana, where a safe was robbed of 4416 dollars. A Waverly elderly woman, Mary McNeedhey, dies at 102.
Washington reports 6861 people involved in 1468 incidents in the United States Life Saving Service for the year ending June 26. Fifty three lives were lost and seventy four vessels destroyed. Most fatalities occurred on undocumented craft including rafts, canoes, and rowboats.
