Each dissolved concern must pay $50,000, effective Jan. 15 unless action to stay is filed. Also notes boxing rumor about John L. Sullivan and Tommy Burns purse tensions and Sullivan’s aging, overweight condition.
Grand Forks N D December 22 Superintendent Hoverstad announced Jan 29 and 30 will be set aside for the state farmers institutes to be held in Grand Forks The letter to Secretary Bacheller notes advertising is underway and expected strong interest from county farmers The program will likely include discussions on good roads and related topics.
A circulating agreement in Lidgerwood North Dakota urges merchants to refrain from shipping and patronizing the Great Northern Railway until the local depot is rebuilt or remodeled. Valley City N D Dec 24 After six hours the jury found Frank Kesler guilty of embezzling 11198 89 while cashier at the Northern Pacific station. The verdict mandates a sentence of from one to five years in the state penitentiary. State's Attorney Alfred Ziger and Judge N C Young prosecuted. M J Inglert defended. Had Kesler been acquitted he faced a possible charge of bigamy.

Dickinson ND December 23 official notice announces the Dakota National Forest reserve location in Billings county. The 14,080 acre tract lies about 22 miles south of Medora near the Northern Pacific line and 25 miles west of Griffin with streams Missouri Deep Creek and Creek Little Missouri joining within the bounds.
Detroit, Dec 22 Hugh Chalmers of this city quits a $72,000 annual post at National Cash Register Co to strike out on his own. A self made man he rose from office boy to vice president and general manager, building a nationwide and international sales network. At 35 he already heads the Chalmers Detroit Automobile Co and plans further expansion.
Rome reports Pope Pius XII has fully recovered from illness and received Archbishop Ireland of St. Paul in private audience. They discussed his diocese matters including cathedral plans in St. Paul and Minneapolis. The pope expressed pleasure at the news and hope to meet the archbishop again before departure.
