Former Iowan Burned in Colorado Springs Tragedy
Anna Hemstead aged twenty five was burned to death at Colorado Springs Colorado after lighting a gasoline stove. The fluid flowed freely and clothing caught fire before she could escape. She died after the flames were extinguished and was brought to Iowa City for burial. Father James Hemstead of Griswold Johnson County was a pioneer. Funeral planned at Morse Johnson County on Sunday.

Williams Wins $15,000 Verdict in Bridge Injury Suit
Clarke Williams won a $15,000 judgment against Clarke County for personal injuries from a fall on a defective bridge. The Creston Iowa case, moved via change of venue, marked the largest such award in the district and among the largest in the state. The jury retired at 10 a.m. and returned the verdict about 4:30 p.m.
