The Sixth Auditor reports Post Office Department finances with cross revenue 42,560,843 expenditures 49,317,188 a deficiency of 5,755,345. add Pacific rail certs 81,240,255 and 25,000 unadjusted liabilities totaling 8,351,571. Revenue fell 785,115 while expenditures rose 2,912,323 due to reduced letter postage and weak business.

Fate of the Brooklyn Wrecked at Fox Bay Anticosti
The steamship Brooklyn of the Dominion line ran ashore at Fox Bay Anticosti early November 10 and is reported a total wreck. Captain George Dale commanded the vessel with 125 passengers bound for Montreal and the West. all reported saved. Crew status unknown, company agents silent. The ship carried a general cargo for Montreal Ontario merchants and had departed Liverpool November 29 and was due Quebec November 1st. Authorities expect further details.
