Iowa Gives Taft a Fifty Thousand Plurality

Des Moines reports Taft carries Iowa by 40 000 to 50 000 and Roosevelt trails by a large margin from four years ago. The entire Republican state ticket is seen elected by similar pluralities, with Cummins likely winning the senatorial primary over Lacey by 20 000 to 30 000. The congressional delegation is expected to remain solidly Republican.

Frank Shercliffe, alias multiple names, held in Knoxville Iowa on fugitive from justice charges, says he will resist transfer to any state except Colorado where he serves a 20 year murder sentence. He escaped from Leadville sheriff while en route to the penitentiary. He claims he is not wanted in Iowa and cites Virginia and North Carolina. He warns about potential kidnapping actions and demands proper requisition papers.

Spokane reports a 30000 square foot tabernacle will be built by the Spokane Ministerial association for Billy Sunday revivals starting mid December and running into January. The venue seats 8000, has 500 voice choir, heated and lit facilities, a sawdust floor, tarred roof, and will also host the National Apple Show December 7 to 12 with premiums totaling $35000.

In Waterloo Iowa on November 2 an explosion of a lighting plant at the Christian church in Walker trapped five attendees of a Christian Endeavor meeting. Fire blocked exits and youths leaped from windows to escape. Rev Charles T Fisher and his son Nile were among the injured. The church and adjoining residence burned. Fisher suffered serious burns while aiding others.

Greek youth wounded by revolver accident in Ottumwa

Nick Anagnos an 18 year old Greek worker at a shin ing parlor above the Iowa National Bank was shot in the back when a revolver fell from a chair in his room at 212 East Main Street. The bullet lodged in his right shoulder blade and was later removed at the hospital. he is not deemed in danger.
