Treasury report of 1877 1879 refunding bonds and interest saved

The Treasury issues a statement on funding operations since March 1 1877 detailing bonds sold for refunding 4 12 and 5 20s 5 30s and 10 40s with annual interest saved totals 503 095 700 and 13 458 651 respectively. It notes redemption on July 1 for 520 registered and coupon bonds from 1867 and 1868 calls with interest to date of maturity.

State Auditor Reports Iowa Insurance Activity for 1878

State Auditor Sherman releases the annual insurance report for Iowa ending April 15. It notes 96 companies active in the state with 16 foreign firms, seven Iowa home companies, and others from other states. Five new companies joined the Iowa list last year.
