A seven-foot lead vein was found five feet below the surface on the Charles Miner farm near Bonaparte by a prospecting drilling company. Additional holes will test size and mining value. Soapstone and flint were drilled through before the vein, suggesting potential large quantities. Mt. Pleasant News.
Joseph J Merensky a Chicago attorney aged thirty two has been appointed assistant United States district attorney through the recommendation of Senator Medill McCormick and President Harding. He is the brother of Mrs H B Spellman of the Brody store in this city.

Eight year old Paul Martin died at his parents home six miles northeast of Fairfield after his younger brother, playing with a 22 calibre rifle found in the house, fired it by mistake. The cartridge struck above the eye, entered the brain, and caused instant death. Sheriff Harris and Coroner Dunkel reported accidental shooting.

Creston, Ia. N. C. Huffman, cashier of the Murray bank, was appointed receiver for the Hopeville consolidated school district, part of Union and Clark counties. It is believed to be the first consolidated district placed in receivership due to tangled affairs.
