The Aberdeen Angus Cattle Sale at J. D. Beaker's one quarter mile north of Rome Iowa will draw farmers Tuesday March 24. Also coverage of local clubs, church events, school activities, and community notices from Fairfield area.
Reported as a fatal duel in Ranchester Wyoming, William Duncker and Herman Hansen both of Arcadia Iowa, died with revolvers in hand. Officials say they were lifelong friends and likely murdered for money. Duncker’s body to Iowa, Hansen’s to Indiana. Both about 25.
The Iowa Democratic club will host its sixth annual banquet at the Savery hotel Des Moines on April 2 1908. Principal speakers include William J Bryan and Senator Bob Taylor with Governor Haskell and Senator Owens of Oklahoma possibly attending. Toastmaster is George F Rinehart. Tickets cost 150 cents and may be secured from club officers.
Notice states county diploma examinations will be held at the courthouse on Friday March 27 starting promptly at 8:00 am Pupils from rural schools planning to take the exam urged to arrive on time County Superintendent Bessie B Buchanan issues the notice.
