Jefferson county chapter of the American Red Cross will reopen the home service office led by Mrs Daisy T Riggs Unionville Mo The office will operate Mondays and Saturdays from 1 to 5 pm to assist ex servicemen with questionnaires compensation travel pay and government claims without charge.

John Yanaway was seriously injured when a Rock Island work train struck his northbound Ford near Dead Man's Crossing just after eight in the morning. Yanaway, who lives near Iowa Malleable Iron foundry, was found by Victor Russell and given medical aid.
Samuel C. Black, former banker and minister, leads Washington and Jefferson College in Washington, Pennsylvania. In one year he reports a pending one million of a two and a half million endowment, with Rockefeller Foundation support and sizable grants ensuring faculty salary increases and campus improvements.
Fairfield merchants agree to close all day July 5 to observe Independence Day. The holiday falls on a Sunday this year.

The new teacher assignments span high and ward schools with principals and departments listed, including Nixon as high school principal and Linter at Washington School, plus staff for math, science, languages, arts, and training. Kindergarten will be held in forenoon at Central and afternoon at Washington.
