From Rome a dispatch reports the Pope asked Archbishop McCabe to publish the papal letter across Ireland immediately. The Pope regrets delaying its publication contrary to his orders. Neil of the Cork Land League was discharged for lack of evidence in intimidation charges while 49 Land League members were summoned at Listowe for seditious conspiracy. Land League and Orangemen meetings at Rock Carry January 15 were prohibited to prevent breach of peace.
