Ioka Station Seeks Union Church and Growth

A mass meeting at Ioka Station aimed to unite denominations and form a union church. A committee began gathering support, with plans to ring the church bell soon. Farmers report sowed wheat and favorable weather. T M Linder disputes a hog story and notes ten ten month pigs weigh 3760 pounds. A report of weddings will come next week.

City Council Passes Fire Bell Ordinance and Scavenger License

At a Thursday evening meeting Mayor Hinkle and trustees approved an ordinance to place a 200 pound fire bell in each ward costing up to 150 dollars for four. The scavenger license was also approved. A white oak lumber contract for 14 000 feet was awarded to W G Stephenson at 18 20 per 1000 feet with a 100 dollar load. City election appointments were made for wards one through three with specified polling places, judges and clerks.

Prohibition Case Reversed by Iowa Supreme Court

The Iowa Supreme Court reversed the Koug land Bros. of Urieritan, setting aside Judge Lewis's judgment and fining them 1000 dollars for violating the prohibitory law. The ruling pleases Brighton residents and the Koug land boys who say the fine was excessive.
