Saturday a 50 guest anniversary gathering at the Kings home on South Main marked twenty years of marriage. A noon three course dinner in red and white followed by music and social time featured helpers Francesa Millane Katherine Millane Samuel King and Raymond King with Ralph King on the Monoa. A local realty venture financed at 200000 dollars plans to build about 35 five room cottage style houses west of the Rock Island station to house factory workers. Dwight Krumholtz captured the divisional title at Upper Iowa University and will represent Parsons College in the state contest at Decorah on March 5. His win places him among the state’s top collegiate orators, with friends praising the achievement. The note adds that only the British Parliament is older than the Swedish Riksdag.

George H. Koch of Jefferson County has been chosen as a member of the five man Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Committee of Farm Cost Production. The Ames meeting marks the committee’s first gathering to devise a system for calculating costs of production across farm commodities. Koch is lauded for leadership in county farming groups, the Livestock and Farm Product association, and Shorthorn cattle breeding, with a record of success in state shows and agricultural organization.
The plaintiff was awarded a directed verdict in district court this week in the case of O. R. Grove versus A. R. Fickel. The suit sought recovery of stock defendant allegedly took and held for damages. The week featured no other notable trials.

The Retail Merchants association of Fairfield held a meeting to expand trade reach. Collective advertising was approved, with a housing plan from Newton Iowa cited as a model. A four to six room housing option and a loan scheme were outlined, including down payments and installment terms.
