Murder of Drake leads to Carter surrender in Davis county
Joseph Carter shot William Drake during a timber dispute two miles east of Floris in Davis county. Carter surrendered to the constable, claims self defense, says Drake advanced with a club as Carter’s gun fired accidentally. Drake died within two hours.
