Special to the Register reports a remarkable Dubuque incident on December 16. John Mueller, longtime resident and small marble shop owner, acted bizarrely and killed himself with chisels driven through his head. An expressman found him comatose after the acts. surgeons removed the chisels and noted the patient remained alive briefly before death. The case is blamed on intemperance.
