Referees J. M. Fry Albert Howell and H. C. Pattison conduct sale of the Leroy ell farm a 148 acre tract located miles southeast of Glasgow. The sale is to be received by the referees as the official action of the court.
Mrs Ophelia Amigh head of the State Training School for Girls at Geneva Illinois warned a West End Women’s club that American women in large cities fuel degeneracy in children through alcohol and narcotics. She cited fashionable life, late hours, poor rest, and alcohol use by women as key factors and said the school has admitted over 1400 girls, most with alcohol inheritance. She linked degeneracy to morals and environment, noting affected children end up in delinquent and mental institutions.
Grinnell Iowa December report details a $400000 endowment drive for Grinnell College with $58000 still needed in sixteen days. The Boosters club tags progress with $100000 from trustees $50000 from alumni and a large conditional gift from Mr Carnegie. Students pledge further support as fundraising expands beyond campus.
In Peoria Illinois a fog shrouded head on collision between east bound Big Four passenger train and westbound No 41 near Lilley and Woodruff left engineers Webb and Thatcher seriously hurt. Stacker died from burns after the crash at St Joseph hospital Bloomington. Cause given as order confusion with no blame yet attached. Both locomotives wrecked.
J B Pritchard aged 19 son of James G Pritchard a Newell Ia farmer was found dead in his Kansas City hotel room from self inflicted pistol wounds on Dec 17 He was well dressed and carried money on his way to Oklahoma City and had asked not to be called this morning hotel staff forced entry after becoming suspicious revealing the death
The Towa State Poultry Fanciers association hosts a major event in January with 1000 to 1500 birds expected. Cash premiums total 600 to 700 dollars plus fifteen silver cups and merchandise valued around 1500 dollars. Entrants from Iowa and neighboring states are anticipated, with incubators, fencing, roofing, and $25 birds among premiums.
