The lighthouse board will recommend a 350000 appropriation to test electric illumination before general lighthouse use. The bureau requires 2500000 to carry on its work. Allen G. Fire origin debated at St Peter asylum laundry blaze

The St Peter Minnesota asylum fire origin is in doubt between escaping gas and tobacco smoking in the laundry. No female patients are reported missing. male patients are being brought in from surrounding areas, with thirty six unaccounted for. Those who perished were inmates unable to be controlled and who continued to stage in the building.

Born in 1833 at Berwick on Tweed Redpath came to the United States with parents in 1848.
