Farmer Struck by Rock Island Train Near Fairfield
George Workman, a farmer living a mile south of Fairfield, was struck by a Rock Island train while driving a runaway team. He survived after severe facial injuries, with no internal injuries, and showed a good chance of full recovery. His wife shot Adolf Wohlgemuth during a separate trial related incident.
