Forty one Baraca men from Fairfield visited Keosauqua for a Sunday outing. They dined at Hotel Manning with a full meal and an hour of toasts and responses. Attorney John Huglin led the group, John Baruise was elected Baraca president for next year, and a half hundred locals thanked landlady Mrs. E M Wilcox for the hospitality.
Undertaker F. E. Butler returned from a three week outing at Pelican Lake Minnesota with a 15 pound pike as proof of the locality s fine fishing. He traveled 900 miles by auto with Mrs. Butler and her parents but rerouted by rail. Mrs. Butler paused in Des Moines for a day or two.
The Brighton Enterprise reports a meeting last Friday that formed a provisional community club with Win R. Norton as chair and Royal N. Reedy as secretary. Committees were named to draft bylaws and organize. plans aim to unite Jefferson and Clay townships plus Brighton in a broader cooperative effort modeled after the Jefferson County Community Club.
