Attending Properly to Sprains in Sports Medicine

The main cause of ankle sprains is prior injury and the best prevention of a repeat sprain lies in proper treatment of the first. Sprains stretch or rupture ligaments on the outside ankle as the foot tilts inward under body weight, with rehab preventing weak ligaments and future sprains. Strengthening the tendons outside the leg and reestablishing balance are crucial as nerves involved in balance may be injured and need retraining. Resistance training boosts calorie use and muscle strength, aiding metabolism, with adult variation in response. If pain persists or therapy could help, talk to a physician.
