Republicans to scrap candidate endorsement system at RTC
The Republican Town Committee plans to end its bi annual caucus practice of endorsing favored candidates and put all municipal slate choices to a town wide Republican vote. Chairman James Millington cites internal divisions from 2003 and says reforms aim to give equal footing to all registered Republicans. Former Selectman Mary Carroll Mirylees praised the move as increasing input while stressing the need to recruit qualified candidates rather than hand picking. The Rules Committee reviews RTC by laws, with any changes needing RTC and town wide approval.
