London Oct 26 Turkey's minister to Switzerland presented to the British and French ministers an offer of peace that effectively amounts to surrender. The Ottoman government has watched Bulgaria's events and seems eager for a similar settlement.
Allied forces led by American divisions and British troops penetrated the Valenciennes to Avesnes line, capturing towns and targeting rail hubs. United States Navy 16 inch guns, crewed by naval personnel, join the front, firing on enemy supply centers. Reports describe the use of the most powerful siege artillery to date, with long range impact on German rail junctions near Vervins Rozoy and Verdun.
Field Marshal King reports the capture of Sepmertes Village east of Querenaing and west of the Wily rail, with Braille St. Amand and Burdion also seized northwest of Valenciennes.
