Fairfield mourns Ozro Jewett 68 died in Denver after a brief illness. He was born near Keosauqua Iowa and lived in Fairfield sixteen years with wife Zora Waits. Survived by three sons Allen Donald Ozro and mother. daughter died in infancy. A Congregational church member and Mason, funeral by Clinton lodge with Masonic burial at the cemetery.

Death of Mrs. Mary Long near Batavia in Jefferson County
Mrs. Mary Long a longtime Jefferson County settler died at her Batavia home Sunday morning after a lingering illness. The burial occurred today. She was sister to Mrs. Kate Richardwon of this city. Train Strikes McCracken Rig at Dubois Crossing
William McCracken and his daughter Tirza McCracken of Blackhawk township were injured when a Rock Island train struck their wagon at the Dubois crossing near Cen ter township. Tirza suffered severe injuries including a broken leg and possible internal damage. William sustained a fractured leg and facial wound. Both were taken to the Kendall home for care. their condition described as serious but stable.

Mrs Geo Droz Dies After Weeks of Illness
Mrs. Geo Droz born Mary V Rainicke in Alsace February 22 1838 died Friday evening at her East Jefferson Street home after several weeks of illness. Fairfield High School defeated Burlington 9 to 0 to claim the championship on Saturday. Captain Yount kicked three field goals from 25 and 35 yards, including angles that cleared the bar. The Fairfield line staunchly defended, while Burlington twice advanced near the goal but were stopped on downs.
