President Wilson formally puts the new selective draft machinery into operation with questionnaires for nearly ten million registrants. Local boards will receive forms to classify men by military, industrial, or agricultural ranks, aiming for completion within sixty days and a second call by mid February.
President Wilson plans a proclamation on standardized bread with a one pound loaf price capped at 7 cents.
