Envoys of Germany sign the Allied armistice at nine this morning with terms so exacting they amount to unconditional surrender. Hostilities cease at 2:00 p m the same day. General Foch instructed German High Command to advance a delegation along the Chimay Vancurmier LaCapelle and Guise road to Allied lines for formal terms.
Americans swim the river and wade through a half mile of bog to scale canal walls in a bold action. They press toward the enemy through mud and water, enduring heavy fire to secure a perch for allied troops.

Democrats concede limited chances with key states Michigan New Mexico and Idaho still under contest. Official tallies show Republicans 40 seats Democrats 47 with independents five as best current breakdown.
