Rear Admiral Count Max Lovatelli of the Italian embassy in Washington was detained in Mexico City for an investigation into his status and oil business at Tampico. He refused to report to military authorities, and the case has been officially reported to Rome.
May 29 report states eight American soldiers are missing after a munition dump exploded in Coblenz. A fire broke out in a building used by U S troops and the blast followed.
Secretary of War Baker renewed before the House Military committee his request for Congress to provide a temporary army of five hundred thousand to bolster national defense.
Paris reports that additional counter proposals from the German peace delegates were delivered to the French authorities on May 29 ahead of the peace conference.
Washington reports revolutionary outbreaks in Mexico City as Diaz rebels attack the Isthmus of Tehuantepec rail line killing General Ramy and 40 soldiers. At a Daily Mail luncheon honoring Harry G. Hawker and Lieut Commander Grieve, Hawker derided the U S aviation achievement of crossing the Atlantic with a heavier-than-air craft. His remark about ships every fifty miles drew only silence from the British audience, though they had cheered the American aviators minutes earlier.
Rear Admiral McKean told the House Naval Committee that the navy cannot abandon readiness. He urged keeping at least sixteen first class battleships with about twenty thousand sailors, arguing ships must deter danger and should not be used as transports. He noted Britain trains more and longer enlistments but praised American crews as equal or better overall.

The allied council notes a general Adriatic accord reached, excluding economic terms, with Austria's fate and reparations to be considered later. Germany and the Allies exchange counter proposals on disarmament, territorial changes, and indemnities, citing disputes over peace basis and enforcement.
Paris reports the death of a colored boxer known as Dixie Kid from a blow outside a Paris case Sunday evening. He bumped into an American officer while drinking and was struck as he fell, later dying from his injuries.
The House rules committee refused to act immediately on a request to grant privileged status to the daylight saving repeal bill delaying its consideration in the House.

London reports the Allied Control Council at Paris has prepared to reimpose the blockade on Germany if the German delegates refuse to sign the peace treaty. Germany would receive 72 hours notice before the armistice ends, after which British French and American forces would advance into Germany and the blockade would be tightened.
London reports wreaths will adorn graves of American soldiers sailors and marines who died in Great Britain. Nearly 8000 Americans perished in hospitals and camps across the British Isles.
