Letters from France by Willis G Corbitt of the 20th Engineers
A frontline diary fragment describes travel in France with the 20th U.S. Engineers. The writer notes unfamiliar flora and birds, bread baking methods, and home comforts like wool mittens and Christmas packages. He discusses mail forwarding, healthful springs, and daily routines while posting from a port town and woods near a vineyard. The piece blends observations of nature, military life, and family ties.
