U S Ships Accused of Supplying Divers
Washington reports the government is probing the steamer Manitowoc and other American Transatlantic vessels for alleged deliveries of supplies to German submarines in the Atlantic. Ships were held at St Thomas by navy order while investigations include state and justice departments. The company denies any submarine shipments, calling crew accounts from Porto Rico disparaging and unlikely.
