The Chicago Telephone company paid $10,000 to the state secretary under protest and then obtained a restraining writ to bar turning the money into the state treasury. Judge B E Smith of the Sangamon circuit court issued the order pending settlement of the issues. The company says $100 was paid to the utilities commission as the regular fee and the extra $10,000 was demanded after increasing capital stock by $10,000,000.
